Ekinex is an Italian brand specialising in manufacturing equipment for smart home systems based on the KNX standard. The company combines innovative technologies with traditional Italian design, which has earned it recognition in the global market.

The Ekinex brand was established in 2012 by a group of technical specialists in automation, particularly in the KNX standard. In 2014, after releasing its first batch of certified products, the brand launched an international English‑language website, officially presenting Ekinex equipment to designers, architects, and KNX system integrators.
Today, Ekinex products are exported to 98 countries worldwide. The company’s headquarters are located in Vaprio d’Agogna (Province of Novara, Italy). The office building houses commercial departments, R&D, technical support, and a showroom.

In July 2019, Ekinex S.p.A. signed an agreement to sell a minority stake to Caleffi S.p.A., becoming part of a group that has led the hydronic and sanitary sector for nearly 60 years.

Concept and philosophy

The brand’s development is based on a concept of technological design, where key product characteristics include user‑friendliness, multifunctionality, and effective use of high technologies alongside stylish appearance. The company’s motto: «Ekinex — the unity of design and technology. Technology makes our life easier, design makes it more enjoyable».

Products

Ekinex offers a range of products including:
  • smart switches;
  • thermostats;
  • multi‑sensors;
  • controllers with displays;
  • system equipment (power supplies, actuators, dimmers, integration interfaces, binary inputs, etc.).
The equipment is designed to create smart home systems of varying complexity for both residential and commercial spaces.

Notably, the brand offers a collection of switches made from the innovative Fenix NTM material. Thanks to nanotechnology, these switches feature a matte, velvety surface with high durability. The keys resist fingerprints, scratches, abrasion, dirt, bacteria, and aggressive environments. In November 2017, FF/NF switches made of Fenix NTM won the Archiproducts Design Awards 2017.

Key product series include:
  • FF. Includes smart switches, thermostats, room controllers, presence sensors, and socket accessories. Available in three designs: Form (strict and minimalist), Flank (original design), NF’ (minimalism).
  • 71. Compact devices with various installation options.
  • 20Venti. Stylish switches with RGB‑lit keys, available in 4‑ and 8‑key versions.

Features and advantages

  • KNX standard. Equipment operates on the KNX protocol — the world’s most popular standard for home automation systems. The system is built on a single signal bus connecting all home subsystems into a unified intelligent network. This ensures flexibility, easy installation, and reasonable cost for smart home systems based on Ekinex.
  • Integration with other systems. Thanks to KNX support, Ekinex equipment can be integrated with smart home systems from other manufacturers.
  • Variety of designs and materials. Ekinex control devices offer options for any interior style, from contemporary classics to minimalism.
  • Certification and quality. Products meet KNX standards and are associated with Italian Made in Italy quality.
